Which detective are you? 5 roles in every escape room team
Searcher, Codebreaker, Leader, Note-keeper or Wildcard? The five roles our Game Masters see in almost every escape room team, and how to build a better one.

Our Game Masters see the same characters in almost every team that walks through the door. Which one are you?
The Searcher
Lifts every cushion, opens every drawer and finds the key nobody else saw. Every team needs one.
The Codebreaker
Loves numbers, symbols and patterns. Give them a padlock and five minutes of silence.
The Leader
Keeps track of time, splits the team and decides when to ask for a hint. Calm under pressure.
The Note-keeper
Remembers which codes were tried, which clues are used and what’s still open. Quietly saves the game.
The Wildcard
Says the strange idea out loud, and it’s right more often than you’d think.
How do you build a balanced escape team?
The best teams mix all five. In our 120-minute rooms (up to 10 players) you’ll need every role. With 2–4 players, everyone wears several hats.
